Soul Practice Yoga

More than a yoga class

I’m Emily, and I’ve been teaching yoga for more than 18 years.
Yoga has been the thread running through almost all of my adult life. I
t has carried me through change, uncertainty, grief, pregnancy, birth and motherhood. It has taught me how to listen to my body, how to stay present with discomfort and how to find steadiness without needing everything around me to be still.

For over 14 years, my husband and I have also been the custodians of Mudra Yoga London,, our independent studio in the heart of Stoke Newington. It is a very special space to me — one shaped by thousands of practices, conversations, friendships and quiet moments of return.

Mudra has never been simply a room where yoga classes happen. It is a community and a place of connection. A space where people can arrive as they are, move alongside one another and feel part of something.
My teaching has evolved over the years, but its heart has remained the same.

I understand yoga as a living exploration of the interconnectedness of everything:

The breath and the body.
Movement and stillness.
Strength and softness.
Sound and silence.
You and the world around you.
I don’t teach these as separate techniques, but as one continuous conversation.

Through embodied yoga, conscious breath, rhythmic movement, grounding rocking, stillness and immersive sound, I invite you to become curious about what is happening within you.
Not to perfect yourself.
Not to perform.
But to feel, listen and return home to your body.

My understanding of the nervous system deeply shapes the way I teach. I’m interested in how movement can shift emotion, how breath can create space, how rhythm can help us settle and how sound can reach places that words sometimes cannot.

My classes can be strong and flowing, quiet and spacious, playful, grounding or deeply restful. I teach intuitively, responding to the people in the room while offering clear, thoughtful guidance that allows you to make the practice your own.

You do not need to arrive calm, flexible or feeling your best.
You may arrive tired, scattered, heavy, energised, tender or unsure. You are welcome exactly as you are.
My hope is that you leave feeling rooted and steady, energised yet calm, clearer in your mind and more connected to yourself.

This is yoga as I understand it:
Intelligent, intuitive and deeply human.

A practice of presence.
A practice of relationship.
A practice of coming home.
