Birth Care & Support

About Me

Hi, I’m Emily-Clare Hill—a birth prep, birth, and postpartum doula here to walk alongside you during this powerful, life-changing time. My mission is to help you feel calm, informed, and supported as you move through pregnancy, birth, and those first tender days with your baby.

I’ve spent nearly two decades as a yoga teacher, holding space for people to feel connected, empowered, and at ease in their bodies and lives. For over ten years, I’ve run our beloved yoga studio in Stoke Newington, a hub of community and connection. My work has always been about helping people feel grounded and seen—and becoming a doula felt like a natural (and beautiful) extension of that.

I’m also someone who finds joy in simple, grounding things—walking in nature, a slow cup of tea, and creating a home that feels calm, beautiful, and welcoming. I treasure my close friendships, mother wholeheartedly, and believe presence is one of my greatest gifts. I’m tactile, warm, and unhurried, yet forward when the moment calls for it—always speaking with care and intention. I’m not a perfectionist; I’m a realist with a soft heart, meeting life as it comes.

Now, as a mother to a bold and brilliant four-year-old, I bring not just professional experience but lived wisdom to this work. Motherhood has softened me, deepened me, and shown me just how important it is to feel truly supported—and I want to offer that to you.

I offer care and guidance through:

  • The highs and lows of pregnancy

  • Evidence-based birth planning

  • Full antenatal education (with a handy birth guide too!)

  • Birth prep sessions focused on hypnobirthing, birth choices, movement & nervous system support

  • Movement and body awareness to support you and your baby’s birth journey

  • Creating a safe, nurturing birth space & why

  • Preparing for those early baby days with gentle insight into feeding, soothing, settling & your healing

Everything is thoughtfully organised so you feel held—not overwhelmed.

Over time, I’ve found it’s really helpful to have a full birth kit—things you might not think to buy, or only use once. So to save you the hassle (and the waste!), I offer clients a hireable birth kit filled with all the bits that make a big difference on the day: a TENS machine, birth ball, peanut ball, easy-to-pack-away string lights, acupressure balls, myofascial release balls, and a lovely squishy, foldable mat for comfort wherever you birth. One less thing to worry about.

Training:

  • Trained with Red Tent Doulas and connected to a strong, vibrant community of birth workers

  • Bio-mechanics for birth with Molly O’Brien

  • Hypnobirthing Teacher with Mama Serene and Emily Bray

  • Breastfeeding and Lactation Fundamentals with Katie James

  • Peanut Ball support with Wendy Procter

I believe that birth is a deeply personal experience—and no matter what your path looks like, I’ll be there with compassion, clarity, and zero judgment. Let’s walk this road together—with love, calm, and care.

What I Offer as Your Doula

As your birth doula, my role is to walk alongside you with calm, continuous, and reassuring support—emotionally, practically, and informatively. I am here from pregnancy, through labour and birth, and into the precious early days after your baby arrives. My aim is to help you feel informed, confident, and held at every step.

Antenatal Preparation – Three Personalised Sessions

We’ll meet for three antenatal sessions, each lasting 2 hours, in a relaxed and informal setting. These sessions are tailored to you—your hopes, questions, and unique needs. They give us time to connect, explore what’s important to you, and ensure you feel well-prepared for birth.

Each session includes space for discussion, questions, and emotional support. Topics we might explore include:

  • Birth physiology – Understanding how your body works during labour and how to support it with the right environment for you, your baby, and your birth hormones.

  • Stages of labour – What you may feel at each stage and practical ways to navigate them, including tools for your birth partner.

  • Pain relief – Medical options and holistic approaches, such as acupressure, essential oils, and breathwork.

  • Birth preferences – Creating a birth plan you feel empowered by and confident to share with your care team.

  • Plan B conversations – Staying grounded and informed if your birth takes a different path.

  • Easing fears – Talking through worries and finding ways to reduce anxiety.

  • Preparing for baby – Feeding choices, newborn needs, and the emotional realities of the early postnatal period.

  • Preparing for birth knowing all of the above but also how to connect to our body and release our fears.

  • Online birth prep classes to do at your own leisure.

  • Birth Kit - I supply all my clients with a birth kit this consists of, birth ball, peanut ball & pump, tens machine, string lights, acupressure balls, myofascia release balls, rebozo. I believe we can really prepare for our birth well and all these things I deem very helpful tools to have.
